Inlay / Onlay
Dental Inlays and Onlays are restorations used to repair rear teeth with mild to moderate decay or cracked and fractured teeth that are not sufficiently damaged to require a crown.
An inlay is an indirect restoration consisting of a solid substance (as gold, porcelain or less often a cured composite resin) fitted to a cavity in a tooth and cemented into place.
An onlay is the same as an inlay, excepted that it extends to replace a cusp. As with most dental restorations, onlays are not always permanent and may someday require replacement. They are highly durable and will last many years.
